GrabTaxi: Lend a Hand, Make a Difference with GrabAssist

You can play a part in making a better Singapore! We are excited to launch GrabAssist, a new vehicle option that offers additional assistance to seniors and persons with disabilities on 5 June 2018.

How it works

Being a part of GrabAssist means making a difference to our community.

Driver-partners who have been trained by the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) to assist riders with mobility challenges are automatically enrolled in GrabAssist. GrabAssist vehicles are able to accommodate folding wheelchairs, walkers and collapsible scooters.

To help identify passengers that require such additional assistance, ‘GRABASSIST’ will be highlighted in your job card.

  • GrabAssist fixed fare starts from $7
  • 10% commission chargeable on all GrabAssist rides

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is GrabAssist?
A: GrabAssist is a vehicle option that offers additional assistance to persons with disabilities who require wheelchair assistance and the elderly.
GrabAssist vehicles can accommodate folding wheelchairs, walkers and collapsible scooters, but do not have wheelchair-accessible ramps or lifts.
Driver-partners will be trained and educated by accredited training centres on how to assist riders with disability and mobility challenges, such as how to help transfer riders safely from the wheelchair to the car.

Q: How can I sign up to be a GrabAssist driver?
A: We are currently unable to accommodate additional partner sign-ups for GrabAssist training. However, we will note your interest through the Help Centre or you can go to Once additional classes become available, invites will be sent to partners who are interested to be GrabAssist partners.

Q: What are the rates? Will I also still get Standard Taxi and JustGrab requests?
A: GrabAssist rides are priced similarly to JustGrab jobs. However, there will be a 10% commission chargeable on all GrabAssist trips. You may receive both GrabAssist and all other service requests which you are eligible for.

Q: Will I have to drive longer to fulfill pickups?
A: Considering that there are less GrabAssist drivers than regular JustGrab drivers, dispatch will likely be slightly longer. We appreciate your patience and dedication to ensure that riders who need your assistance have options to get around.
To continuously improve the experience on both sides, we will work on growing the pool of GrabAssist driver-partners.

Q: What if I would like to opt out of GrabAssist?
A: We are definitely sad to see you go, as we know you’ve spent time and effort obtaining the training. If you would like to stop receiving GrabAssist jobs, please use the toggle function in your Grab Driver App to toggle off GrabAssist.

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.

As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.

Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
