At Grab, safety has always been our utmost priority and the Driver Selfie Verification feature is a step towards maintaining the safety of both our driver partners and passengers. In addition, this feature will help ensure that your Grab Driver account remains secure.
Approximately twice a day, you may be prompted to verify your identity when you toggle on your availability. Fret not, we will not ask you to verify yourself in the middle of a trip. However, you may be asked to perform a verification when the trip ends and once done, you will be available to receive jobs.
How Do I Verify My Identity?
Step 1: Ensure that your vehicle is stationary and that you’re in a safe location.
Step 2: Tap ‘Got It’ to begin the verification process.
Step 3: Align yourself to your phone’s front-facing camera and follow the stated instructions.
Step 4: Complete the verification process and continue receiving jobs.

1. When will this selfie verification pilot program roll out?
This pilot program will roll out within 1-2 days of you receiving the SMS notification from Grab.
2. How often will I need to do a selfie verification?
You will be prompted to do a selfie verification approximately 2 times a day, when you toggle yourself available for jobs.
3. Do I need to do a selfie verification every time I toggle my availability?
No, you will not be asked to do a selfie verification every time you toggle your availability. You will only be prompted to do a selfie verification approximately 2 times a day.
4. Will I be asked to do a selfie verification while I’m in the middle of a trip?
No, you will not be asked to do a selfie verification while in the middle of a trip. However, you may be prompted to do a selfie verification once the trip ends.
5. What happens if I choose not to do the selfie verification?
If you do not complete the selfie verification process, you will not be able to toggle yourself as available, and will not receive any further jobs until you verify.
6. What should I do if my face does not get detected?
Please follow the instructions stated in the app. Alternatively, you may try restarting the Grab Driver app. If the problem persists, please contact Grab Support for assistance.
7. What happens if my selfie verification fails after several attempts?
Your account may be locked after several failed verification attempts. If you get locked out, please contact contact Grab Support for assistance.
8. Why am I requested to take a new selfie?
You may be prompted to take a new photo if the existing photo you have with Grab is not clear enough. Please ensure that you’re in a brightly lit area when taking the selfie, and remove all accessories blocking your face (e.g. caps and sunglasses).
9. Why is this feature required?
This is an enhancement feature to maintain the safety of both our driver partners and passengers. In addition, this feature will help ensure that your Grab Driver account remains secure.
10. Can I opt out of this pilot program?
We need your help as much help as possible! Your participation and feedback as the pioneer users of this feature will help shape the feature into a simple experience for all Grab Partners.
