Stay Alert: Police Reports on Theft Against Private Hire Vehicles

We’ve received reports from the police about theft from taxi drivers and private hire vehicles.

How does it work?

While riding as passengers, the culprits would steal items such as wallets, pouches and mobile phones placed at or near the center console of the vehicle.

What can you do to stay safe?

  • Keep personal valuables (including mobile phones) safe and away from the center consoles or anywhere within reach of the passengers
  • Stay alert in safeguarding your personal belongings and of any possible thieves who try to distract you
  • Take note of your IMEI number immediately. You can find the mobile phone IMEI number by keying in *#06# on your mobile phone key pad. You can also get in touch with Grab as we may have your IMEI number on file.

What can you do if your mobile phone is stolen?

Please provide the police with details such as the IMEI number of your mobile phone and any other pertinent details.
If you have any information related to the crime, please call the police hotline at 1800-255 0000 or dial 999 for urgent Police assistance.

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.

As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.

Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
