How To Avoid Driving Scares With Halloween Around The Corner

Everything that we at Grab have been implementing since our Townhall kopi talk – it is for the sole purpose of improving you driver-partners’ welfare and raising your spirits. Funny we mentioned spirits, because our ultimate goal was really to prepare you for the Halloween scares. Don’t get us wrong, we don’t mean passengers dressing up as zombies, or an actual supernatural encounter when you’re driving circles in some ulu corner of Lim Chu Kang.

Read on to find out these eerily familiar phobias you drivers have been facing, and a recap of measures that have been putting them to rest (in peace).

Experiencing hell with ‘high fares, low earnings’

“Why customers pay so much, but then my earnings per ride so low ah?” Our newly implemented measures will dispel your problem! Every time you drive more than 3km for your passenger(s) you’ll get $3. And when you complete trips during peak hours you’ll get $5. You guys want mah, so we give lor!

Ghost Passengers

Halloween or not, hardworking drivers like you guys still kena. Because you can’t use salt or crucifixes to ward off these ghost passengers, we have a $4 treat for you since you got tricked. As long as any passenger cancels on you 5 minutes after you’ve accepted, you’ll earn the $4. Treat and treat!

Riders from a nightmare

You pinch yourself to find out that you are not dreaming. Rude, unruly, spiteful. Sometimes riders fit those criteria and it’s difficult to deal with them. We have been creating campaigns (Better 365 videos on Youtube) that delve deeper into the lives of our drivers, so that riders can be more understanding and less of an ass.

Career graveyard

It’s okay to question whether driving for Grab can lead you to a dead end after the dearth of the incentives system. It’s only rational. Confront your fears with logical conclusions and solutions. With our new earnings guarantee scheme, you don’t have to be scared of the ‘ill-fortune’ ghost coming for you. Get it? *winks*

No tricks, just treats: Grab plays an active role in training drivers to raise service standards and professionalism. Complimentary health screenings and telematics scheme have also been introduced to keep drivers’ health in tip-top condition.

Bloodcurdling in-app technical glitches

Haunted houses and realistic-looking ghost people are already doing a good job at giving you guys mini heart attacks, and we would genuinely hate to pull one on you. This is why we are constantly updating and improving our Grab app, including the Demand Heat Map and the new amount cap feature! “This came in at the right time for someone like me,” says Goh Jack, a new driver-partner who just joined. “I know where exactly to go to meet the demand.”

No tricks, just treats: Grab tweaks the in-app Demand Heat Map to alert drivers on hot spots, so as to save them from the guesswork.

Once again, we cannot thank you drivers enough for working so hard and providing an awesome experience for passengers nationwide. We are constantly looking for ways to improve the welfare of our biggest asset: You!

Happy Halloween, avoid the spooks, and drive safe.

Komsan Chiyadis

GrabFood delivery-partner, Thailand

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.

As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.

Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
