What is GrabHitch?

We are a social carpooling service that matches riders to everyday drivers who are going along the same way. Hitch drivers are regular car owners who choose to ‘tumpang’ you on their way to their destination in exchange for a fare meant to subsidise petrol cost.

With GrabHitch’s Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) coverage, riders can now travel with greater peace of mind whenever they GrabHitch. The PAI for GrabHitch riders is Singapore’s only group insurance that provides coverage in the event of an accident on social carpool rides (details here). We also conduct stringent checks on every driver, validating the personal information that they have submitted, and suspend drivers and riders who exhibit dangerous behaviour immediately.

  • We provide greater convenience.

You can book a GrabHitch within the Grab app itself, without the need of a separate app. Frequent promotions are also given to our GrabHitch riders to encourage social rides!

  • This promotion is only valid for Hitch Riders who have never successfully completed a GrabHitch ride.
  • This promotion with promo code “BETTER4” is only valid for the first 1,000 redemptions per calendar day.
  • Bookings have to be made for GrabHitch rides between 31 July 2017 00:00 hours to 13 August 2017 23:59 hours to be eligible for the promotion.
  • This promotion is only valid for GrabPay rides.
  • This promotion is only valid for fares not exceeding SGD 16 per trip.

COVID-19 has dealt an unprecedented blow to the tourism industry, affecting the livelihoods of millions of workers. One of them was Komsan, an assistant chef in a luxury hotel based in the Srinakarin area.

As the number of tourists at the hotel plunged, he decided to sign up as a GrabFood delivery-partner to earn an alternative income. Soon after, the hotel ceased operations.

Komsan has viewed this change through an optimistic lens, calling it the perfect opportunity for him to embark on a fresh journey after his previous job. Aside from GrabFood deliveries, he now also picks up GrabExpress jobs. It can get tiring, having to shuttle between different locations, but Komsan finds it exciting. And mostly, he’s glad to get his income back on track.
