In light of the national health emergency brought by the threat of COVID-19, Grab, together with its partners from the public and private sectors, have come together and launched GrabBayanihan – a community-driven initiative to safely address the economic and medical pain points brought about by the recent COVID-19 outbreak in the Philippines.
Week on week we continue to innovate and find ways on how we can help our community in need through our partners and LGUs. Here are the new things we launched this week! Click on the photos to learn more about the initiatives.
Safeguarding the livelihood of driver-partners remains our utmost priority. With public transportation services, including for TNVS, suspended for a period of time, we are continuously coming up with different ways to help our driver-partners affected. Here are some of the efforts that we have rolled out in assisting our driver-partners:
PhP 14M worth of relief items will be distributed to around 40,000 driver-partners. Raised from Grab and our partners, these packs will include grocery vouchers, rice, canned goods, medicine, and drinks.
We have begun virtual training for our GrabCar drivers who will temporarily transition as GrabFood and GrabExpress partners. We currently have over 3,000 activated partners who are already driving and earning.
Grab has distributed 30,000 face masks and almost 2,000 bottles of alcohol to driver-partners. We stay committed to the safety and hygiene of our partners.
On March 30, Grab credited the Emergency Support Funds to the accounts of GrabCar driver-partners. Grab is also working closely with several government offices on providing financial assistance for affected driver-partners. We confirm that DTI, through its lending arm SB Corp., will be extending SME loan support to GrabDriver partners. We are currently finalizing with DSWD and LTFRB the list of GrabCar drivers eligible for the social amelioration program.
Our community partners are not just supporting Grab, they are supporting thousand of drivers and small businesses who make a living via our platform

There are still more than 150 available units awaiting deployment to other LGUs and even hospitals.
In partnership with the LGUs, Grab has already deployed a specialized car fleet to the LGUs of Quezon City (5), Caloocan (4), Muntinlupa (3), Pasig (10), and Pasay (4). These specialized fleets help in food and medical distributions within these cities.

With enhanced community quarantine in effect, accessing daily essentials is a challenge for many Filipinos. We – through our GrabFood and GrabExpress services – continue to deliver everyday essential needs such as food, medicine, and others, while providing livelihood opportunities for delivery-partners amidst this period of disruption.
As part of Grab’s continuous effort to serve the everyday essential needs of Filipinos, we have expanded our Grab services with GrabMart – an on-demand grocery service that allows you to shop for your essential goods right from your home and have them delivered to you instantly!
To aid in social distancing, Grab introduced a new Contactless Delivery Option that limits contact between consumers and delivery-partners by observing 1-2m distance in fulfilling orders.
Visit the doctor immediately if you feel any symptoms.
Look out for DOH’s announcements via DOH’s Facebook or Official Website
To those who donated and helped spread the word on how to donate via GrabPay, THANK YOU as we wouldn’t have been able to do these without you! Together, we are able to raise:
Through GrabRewards Donation drive, Grab Philippines was able to raise almost ₱5.9M which will be used to purchase 3,298 PPE’s for front liners.
As of date, we have raised over ₱1.87M for McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen. This means that we’d be able to provide meals to around 37,589 front liners.
Over ₱1.18M have been donated for Caritas Manila. This amount will be used to distribute Manna food bags to around 1,691 families.
Continuous donation drive for World Vision has now collected ₱159k which will be used to purchase PPE sets to 28 health facilities.
We have recently partnered with PGH to provide support to health facilities who will be receiving ₱22k collected through GrabRewards Donation drive.
We also want to highlight our delivery-partners who go beyond the call of duty and help however they can to service our frontliners. Click on the photos below to know more about our Grab riders’ stories!
