Covid-19 Updates for our Grab Partners
Following the latest announcement from the Government, we’ve updated this page to provide some clarity to you.
If you are stopped at any roadblocks, please show the authorities these documents: Confirmation Letter from Grab, APAD, MCMC & MOT (effective 6 July 2021) and Government Regulations. We highly recommend that you download and save these documents into your mobile phones for quick access.
In addition, we would like to reiterate that we are committed to ensuring the many Malaysians who rely on our platform as a source of income are able to continue doing so. Let’s work together to fulfill the everyday needs of our fellow Malaysians and keep everyone safe!

If you are feeling unwell and exhibit symptoms
We strongly urge you to visit the nearest screening hospitals to be tested. It is very important that you DON’T drive/deliver on the platform if you have symptoms such as fever, cough and difficulty breathing.

In addition, we are committed to support MOH in their response to Covid-19:
- Please provide feedback here if you notice any passengers exhibiting symptoms
- Inform us immediately if they have been tested positive for the Covid-19 virus or receive a letter of self-quarantine so that we can assist MOH with contact tracing
- Grab will temporarily suspend accounts that have been exposed to Covid-19
- Grab will provide financial assistance to affected active drivers and delivery-partners whose accounts are on hold. We will provide RM200* to partners who tested positive Covid-19 on the job/required to be quarantined due to exposure while on the job. This amount will be topped-up into the cash wallet following a review of the self-declared report to us. Please self-declare to us here.
Any account suspensions will last for 14 days until official documentation verifying the health status of suspended driver and delivery-partner has been submitted here and reviewed.

If you are healthy and capable of driving/delivering
We strongly advise you to take precautionary measures when you are completing trips and deliveries.
As a safeguard during this period, we recommend you to practise:
Good Hygiene
Driver-partners
- You are required to wear a mask at all times
- Please wash your hands frequently with soap or use hand sanitisers before and after picking up food orders/ deliveries or passengers
- Prepare lid covered dustbins in your car so you and your passengers can dispose any used tissues
- Disinfect your car (inside and outside) as frequently as possible
- As you spend a lot of time in an enclosed space, do try to air your vehicle as often as possible.
Delivery-partners
- You are required to wear a mask at all times
- Please wash your hands frequently with soap or use hand sanitisers before picking up any food orders/ deliveries
- Please comply with health and safety measures at merchants’ premises
Contactless driving/delivery
Driver-partners
Passengers are required to wear a mask before entering the vehicle. If the passenger is not wearing a mask, please advise them to do so and politely decline the trip if they refuse.
If you pick up a passenger who appears to be unwell, please exercise your best judgement; if you do not feel comfortable, please politely decline the trip with the passenger and then call Grab Customer Service to cancel.
For Klang Valley: To minimise contact between passengers, GrabShare service will be temporarily unavailable. This will take effect immediately and you will not receive GrabShare bookings until further notice. Other service types will be operating as usual.
Delivery-partners
You may drop a note to your customer via GrabChat to arrange to leave them at the gate, pick up from the back of your bike or an alternate location like the lobby order.
Grab Support Initiatives
Grab Partner Protection Fund
To aid affected drivers and delivery-partners, Grab will provide RM200* if you either:
- COVID-19 positive while on the job OR
- Required to be quarantined as a result of exposure during a ride/delivery
This amount will be topped up into the cash wallet following a review of the self-declared report to us. Please self-declare to us here.

SOCSO
Contributors can get the following:
- Employment Injury Scheme: If you’re COVID-19 positive while on the job
- Invalidity Scheme: If you’re COVID-19 positive outside of your job and suffer permanent illness/inability to work again

Food deliveries via cars
We understand many of you are worried about a drop in income. To support your income, the GrabFood service type will be made available to all driver-partners*. We expect higher demand for GrabFood orders in this period so do come online.
- All GrabFood deliveries are 0% commission.
- Driver-partners MUST complete the GrabFood training on GrabAcademy.
- The service type will be added to your account the day after GrabFood training completion.

GrabExpress Car
Aside from food deliveries via car, we also launched GrabExpress Car in selected cities* as we foresee that many more Malaysians will be in need of our services. GrabExpress Car is an on-demand delivery service aimed to cater for bulk deliveries to consumers.
*Klang Valley, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Melaka, Ipoh, Kuantan, and Kota Bharu
Driver-partners in selected cities need to complete the GrabExpress Car training to get the service type added into their account. For more information, click here.
Vaccination Requirement from Merchants
With more businesses only allowing fully vaccinated individuals to enter their premises, please follow these steps when you receive an order:

If you need extra preventive measures
SOCSO
If you have not signed up for the Self-Employed Employment Injury Scheme on SOCSO, now is a good time to do so. The yearly contribution is as low as RM157.20. In the event you fall ill and are unable to earn an income, you and your family will be insured at least RM1,000 per month, paid continuously to you until you are fit to drive again.

Passenger limit for transport services [EFFECTIVE 1 Apr 2022]
We’ve implemented the following passenger limit for our transport services.
💡 Pro tips:
- Upon arrival at the pick up location, if your booking exceeds the passenger limit above, you may cancel it without affecting your Cancellation Rate (CR) using the reason “Too Many Passengers”.
- As required by the government, everyone inside the vehicle is required to wear a facemask at all times.
- If you do pick up a passenger that refuses to wear a facemask, you can cancel the booking without affecting your Cancellation Rate (CR) and report them through our Help Center.
