Jakarta, August 7th, 2017 – Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading ride-hailing and mobile payments platform, today announced the availability of the long-awaited feature, GrabNow, to all users in Greater Jakarta. The new feature will allow passengers to directly hail a nearby GrabBike driver without having to pre-book and wait for a biker to arrive at their location. Starting today, passengers will enjoy a smoother GrabBike ride experience without compromising on service and safety standards.

“GrabNow represents our goal to outserve our consumers. Today, we made another breakthrough with the launch of GrabNow, which enables passengers to enjoy speedy ride allocation up to three times faster thanks to our mobile proximity booking solution. An auto-pairing between a passenger and a biker that will be completed within 15 – 30 seconds allows an immediate hailing experience. Chances are everyone will get to their destinations faster, which means a better GrabBike ride for all.” said Mediko Azwar, Marketing Director, Grab Indonesia.

In its substantial beta testing across the Jakarta, GrabNow has contributed to an overall better ride GrabBike experience by helping passengers more quickly locate our drivers and commence rides. The launch is a major step in the right direction to deliver its services by leveraging local insights and hyperlocal approach.

“Time is indeed precious for people living in Greater Jakarta and it doesn’t matter what you do or where you work – everyone is looking for ways to be more productive. GrabNow is a seamless way to ride GrabBike specifically designed to shorten consumers’ wait time, so they have the opportunity to increase their productivity. We believe GrabNow is a real differentiator with our competitors.” added Mediko.

Using GrabNow is as easy as 1-2-3!

Passengers just need to tap on the ‘connect’ icon when they are in close proximity with GrabBike biker or use the 6-digit code available on the driver’s phone and the Grab platform will do all the other work. Once connected, passengers have to confirm that they are with the right driver and they are set to go.

The pairing process is done using the proximity technology Google nearby which uses ultrasound waves to pair the passenger’s phone with the bikers’. All of this happens in a safe and secure way through encryption technology.

Grab will continue to invest in technology to provide a faster, safer and more reliable transportation solution for its passengers. GrabNow rides are offered at regular GrabBike fare prices and support both cash and payments via GrabPay. For more information about GrabNow, visit http://grb.to/GrabNow .
