Bank Mandiri Serves Payment Transaction for Grab

Bank Mandiri has formed partnership with the leading ride-hailing platform in Southeast Asia, Grab, to integrate mandiri e-cash service into Grab’s application and services for both Grab passengers and driver partners.

Jakarta, 18 August 2016 – Bank Mandiri has formed partnership with the leading ride-hailing platform in Southeast Asia, Grab, to integrate mandiri e-cash service into Grab’s application and services for both Grab passengers and driver partners. This strategic partnership is expected to improve passengers’ convenience on their transactions and to make it easier for driver partners to do their job and withdraw their funds which in turn would increase productivity.

The agreement was signed by Director of Digital Banking and Technology at Bank Mandiri, Rico Usthavia Frans, and Managing Director for Grab Indonesia, Ridzki Kramadibrata in Jakarta, Thursday (18/8).

Through this partnership, Grab passengers can pay their trip with mandiri e-cash directly from Grab app. Grab passengers doesn’t have to own a bank account to enjoy mandiri e-cash service.

Meanwhile, Grab driver partners can use mandiri e-cash on their Grab application for a faster and easier Grab credit top-up, better supporting the driver partners on their job.

In addition, this integration which is supported by PT Digital Artha Media as mandiri e-cash system provider, also enable Grab driver partners to transfer their cash balance to their mandiri e-cash account, and then withdraw cash anytime from any Mandiri ATM with only using their smartphones with mandiri e-cash account.

According to Rico Usthavia Frans, Bank Mandiri and Grab will immediately start the mandiri e-cash integration on Grab’s application and services exclusively for Android based smartphones, followed by integration on iOS platform.

Rico further added that this step is in line with the company’s strategy to encourage Cashless National Movement together with partners that have expansive consumer base with big business potential.

“With this business model currently being developed, Grab would have more innovative services available to the public that are easy to use and at an affordable cost. Mandiri e-cash will be able to support Grab in creating those innovative services,” add Rico.

Mandiri e-cash is a server-based e-money application developed to support an increasingly cashless society. The application can be downloaded by dialing *141*6#. It can also be downloaded from Google Play, App Store, Blackberry App World, and Nokia Store. The app connects banking services to telecommunication services and can be used by everyone, whether they are Bank Mandiri’s customers or not. In this app, the mobile number of the user becomes the bank account number.

As of June 2016, there are more than 1.3 million e-cash users with total transaction value surpassing 665 billion Rupiah.

Furthermore, Ridzki Kramadibrata said that this collaboration will benefit Grab as it can be a starting point to a long term partnership with Bank Mandiri.

“With the advanced technology and vast network, we believe that mandiri e-cash integration will be a new stage for Grab in providing safe, reliable, and convenient service both for passengers and driver partners,” Ridzki concluded.
