Answers to the most common questions.
What are categories?
What's a blog?
A blog is an online journal.
A blog can be a sounding-board, a soapbox, a diary, or a combination of all three. Blogs cover every topic imaginable - family, politics, games, physics, celebrities, love - if you have thoughts about it, you can blog about it!
On Grab.com, your blog is your space. You can voice your thoughts on anything and everything. And when you share your blog with your friends, they'll be able to read what you have to say, and even to comment back to you.
There's no wrong way to blog - you can post links to interesting websites you find, stories about your puppy, rants about the traffic, tips on weight management, the story of your wedding planning, or anything else you can imagine.
And, of course, once you start reading other blogs from your friends here on Grab.com, you'll probably want to blog about their blogs, and share your thoughts on the topics and ideas that they're discussing!

What is RSS?
RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication." Instead of having to come back to your favorite blog every day to see whether new content has been posted for you to read, you can subscribe to a site's "RSS feed." Then, using an RSS feed reader, like FeedDemon (for Windows) or NetNewsWire (for Mac), you can find out whenever a blog has been updated, without needing to check it yourself.
Still not sure what that means? Think of a microwave. When you stick dinner in the microwave, you could come back and check the microwave every twenty seconds to see if you're foods done - but that would be ridiculous! Instead, of course, the microwave beeps to let you know when the mac and cheese is warm.
In the same way, an RSS feed reader saves you from having to constantly check your favorite blogs. Rather, your feed reader tells you when there's new content to read.
Your Grab.com blog offers an RSS feed by default, which you can change in your Blog Settings.
How do I create a blog?
The best part is, it only takes one click! Just head over to the Grab Blogs main page, and you'll be up and blogging in seconds.
Can I have a blog?
Of course! It's 100% free to create a blog here at Grab.com. And membership at our site is free, too. So you can have a blog in no time at all. Just head over to the Grab Blogs main page, and you'll be up and blogging in seconds.
Can I make my blog private?
Most blogs are public places to sound-off on anything and everything. But sometimes, you want to blog more privately - sharing personal updates with your family, or private details with a few select friends.
Grab allows you to limit your blog only to people on your friends list. That means that if someone tries to get to your blog but isn't on your friends list, they won't be able to read what you've written there.
If you decide to leave your blog public for everyone to see, you'll certainly get more readers. Grab.com may even choose to highlight your blog somewhere on the site - as a featured blog, a popular blog, or just a fun blog to check out! If you'd rather not have your blog featured in this way, you may indicate that choice in your Blog Settings. That won't mean your blog is private, but it will mean that we won't publicly promote it elsewhere on the site.
You can change your blog's privacy settings at any time.

Why would I want to blog?
The real question is, why wouldn't you want to blog! Everyone has something to say, and here on Grab, we want to help you say it.
If you frequently find yourself having interesting insights, or if you just love to dish about last night's TV shows, or even if you just keep finding cool places on the Internet that you love to share with friends, then you'll probably love blogging!
What are categories?
Categories are used to "tag" your blog posts. That way, you readers can quickly find everything you've ever said about movies or family or work. You can attach as many categories to a blog post as you'd like!
If you'd rather not tag your posts, of course, you don't have to. Categories are completely optional.
