Favorite story: Saturday mornings at our house usually involve plans to go shopping for cat food and cat litter. But (weather permitting) they always include plans to take the Good Cats outside.
One weekend, they got us to take them outside on a chilly morning. The cats have fur, but we, their humans, have to depend on manmade protection from the cold. All the same, we took them back inside a little sooner than we might have if the weather had been warmer. Since we were going right back out again to shop, Pat didn't hang up her warm Cabela's coat, but draped it over the back of the love seat in the family room while she fed the cats their stinky goodness in the next room.
The Good Cats enjoyed their meal and went off to wash and nap while Pat cleaned up after them. By the time Pat was ready to put on her coat and go, Kelly had settled in for a satisfying nap on the back of the love seat, with that warm soft coat supporting him. Not his usual happy napping place, but understandable, once I saw that his (formerly "my") recliner didn't have his blanket on it. I corrected this deficiency at once, finding and folding his favorite fleece blanket and then spreading it neatly across the seat. Satisfied he had made his point about our housekeeping duties, Kelly took back his customary bed and Pat reclaimed her coat.
Years ago, back at the old house, we had a light orange chair in the living room, and we usually kept the chair covered to keep the cat hair off. One day, though, the cover was off, and when Kelly lay down on it, the Handsome Ginger Tom blended right in. He was napping there when Pat came home from work, took off her coat and blithely dropped it right on top of him.
