When growing up games of cards used to be a big thing in our house after Sunday lunch the table was cleared and my Dad and us kids used to play cards ..... Gin Rummy was a favourite and for a laugh Cheat ..... happy days!

A favourtie at family gatherings now is to play Spoons - amazing the fun you can have with a pack of cards and a few spoons

Spoons is a great family party game honest

How does that one go

There are one fewer spoons than players laid out in the centre of the table.  You use enough cards from the pack so that each player can be dealt 5, ensuring this includes some sets of 4 numbers the same.  Someone is responsible for saying pass and on this command each player discards a card they do not need and passes it face down on the table to player on left and picks up discarded card from player on their right, at a quick pace this continues - Once a player has 4 cards the same number they 'discreatly' pick up a spoon.  You can only pick up a spoon if you have 4 cards the same or if someone else has picked up a spoon.  Player without a spoon looses. Each round one spoon is removed and 5 cards, until you are left with two people fighting over the one spoon to determine the winner! People get so engrossed in the passing of cards they often dont notice the spoons going and when it is noticed there is a mad rush to grab one ...... you have to play it to see just how manic and fun it gets (or maybe that's just my crazy family!)

An egg and spoon race..

just put double sided sticky tape on the spoon, and run like the clappers
