These are your Support Staff & Moderators.

Please feel free to contact them should you have any problems with the site.

They are here to help around the site. If you need help with anything, such as an unruly person in chat or inappropriate content that needs to be taken care of right away, feel free drop one of them a message.

While on the boards, Moderators will have the title of "Moderator" written under their usernames and the staff will have "Grab.com staff" under their names. (as shown below)

In the chatrooms the Staff members will be shown with a blue icon and Moderators will have an orange 'M' icon or gold 'G' icon depending on the type of chatroom.

This image shows how the various types of members will be shown in the two styles of chatroom used on Grab.

What Can & Can't A Moderator Do?

On The Message Boards:
We can delete inappropriate content from the message boards, either individual post or the whole thread.
We can Lock/Unlock threads.
We can move threads to other boards.
We can hide inappropriate game reviews for a staff member to review.

We can not move individual postings from one thread to another.
We can not create sticky's
We can not alter another members postings.

In Chat Rooms.
We can Kick members out.
We can Mute Members.

On Members Profiles:
We can Penalty Box members for any given time necessary.
We have access to a members PB history (this is never discussed with anyone other than that member).

We can not change a members About Me section, quick facts, guestbooks, or picture albums.
Any problems with these areas should be directed to the Grab.com Staff.

Members Blogs
We do not have any admin tools at all to deal with members blogs. Any problems with the content of a members blog should be reported to the Grab.com Staff.

Grab Mail
Moderators do not have any access to your Grab Mail. Any problems with messages being sent to you should be reported to the Grab.com Staff via the CONTACT US link at the bottom of the page.

When you use any of the report links around the site or in the chats they go straight to a member of staff, the Moderators do not see these reports unless a member of staff has a reason to discuss them with us.

If you need to contact a member of staff about the areas not covered by the Moderators then please do so via the CONTACT US link at the bottom of the page.

Moderator are only human and we will make mistakes at times. If you have any problems with the conduct of a Moderator then please contact a member of staff for assistance. This can be done via the CONTACT US link at the bottom of the page.

HOW MODERATORS
ARE CHOSEN

This info below is direct from the Grab.com Staff on becoming a Moderator.

Grab.com wrote:

"Moderators are hand-picked from the Grab.com community.  We are always on the lookout for those members who stand above the rest, and seem to have earned the respect and admiration of their fellow Grab members.

"If you are interested in joining our Moderator Team be sure to always portray yourself in a positive and helpful manner on the Message Boards, and you never know when you might receive that invitation to join our team.

"Thank you for continuing to support Grab.com!"
And this is from Anneshart

Becoming a Moderator doesn't just happen over night. Staff watch the boards and the chat rooms for people who go above and beyond being a regular member. Those who continue to help others, remain positive and follow the rules of the TOS....may one day make it to Moderator.

You do not need to be a Gold member to become a Moderator....most of us were just regular members when we became one. Hope this helped everyone.
And this from Moderator - Hellykwee

How do you become a Moderator?
Again, my point of view:

First of all don't ask for it!
While there's no hard and fast rule against this, it's just common sense that a position that requires you to put some thought and care into your words before you write, isn't likely to go to a person who blurts out "pick me!"
For those of you who say "I want to be a Moderator, I'd make a great Moderator!"-- think carefully-- why do you want to be a Moderator? If your reasons are purely selfish, because you want to show off, because you like the feeling of power, then you're in it for the wrong reasons. Besides, your true motives will show sooner or later anyway. If your reasons are to truly contribute to the site and help out in a responsible manner, then guess what? You're not the type who will go around saying "I want to be a mod! Pick me!" in the first place, right?

Next, think about what you expect to see in a Moderator? Their primary job is to monitor the site and keep it clean. Ensure compliance with the TOS. Secondarily, they also lend assistance to users as much as they can (something that any ordinary user can also do). Is this something you want to do? Something you are capable of doing? When someone misbehaves, are you able to deal with them in a mature manner, or are you more likely to tell them off? Can you be fair and impartial when conflicts between users arise in front of you?

In short, when the staff is on the lookout for potential Moderators, they observe you. In the chatrooms. In the message boards. They watch how you interact with others. If you possess the qualities they seek in a Moderator-- if you're nice, courteous, helpful, respectful, and can conduct yourself in a friendly and mature manner, you'll be a likely candidate. The staff observe quietly and have their discussions behind the scenes. They aren't going to let you know if you're being considered, until they've made the decision to "hire" you, and then they'll contact you with an offer.

Another note: Don't even think about faking it. People who fake being nice and helpful on the boards, yet have a hidden agenda, will almost always show it. If you have an ulterior motive behind your actions (i.e. wanting good karma, wanting to be noticed for a Moderator position...) don't bother-- people can almost always see right through you. At best you won't get what you want. At worst, it may come back to bite you (i.e. lower karma).

One last note: I hope that a wish to be a Moderator or a wish for higher karma isn't what drives you to be nice, friendly and helpful. I would hope that everyone would continue to do so for the sake of being nice, for the sake of making Grab a pleasant place to hang out, not for any tangible personal gain. :-)
