I wanted to compile some general information on ways to troubleshoot common problems. The first and most important step is diagnosing where the problem lies; the Internet, your software or Grab.com.
If a game hangs or you experience difficulty loading it make sure that you're connected to the Internet. Browse to Google, make sure that you can still reach the Internet - if that's true, then move on.
Games on Grab.com use four different technologies: Flash Player, Shockwave, Java and ActiveX. Right clicking on the game window will normally display what technology is in use - if it's Flash a menu for Flash will open, etc.
After assessing what product the game uses attempt to correct the problem.
Most of the games and all of the community features on Grab.com use Flash. You can check to see if your Flash or Shockwave installation is corrupt by visiting the Adobe Test Center.
Java is another technology used. You can verify the status of your Java installation by visiting the Java Test Center.
ActiveX is a required component for some of the games on our site, and can only be used utilized in Microsoft Internet Explorer. To see how to properly enable ActiveX please visit this blog post. To see what Add-ons are currently installed, open Internet Explorer and perform the following steps:
Tools -> Manage Add-ons
Show: Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer
Sometimes "Disabling" an ActiveX Control and re-installing it will do the trick. Some controls can be automatically updated by selecting it and using the Update ActiveX button.
If you've determined that the required technology is installed correctly the next step is to clear your Temporary Internet Files. This is where the "downloaded" copies of the "Play online" games are stored.
In Microsoft Internet Explorer go to:
Tools -> Internet Options -> General
Under "Temporary Internet files" select "Delete Files"
If you still experience difficulty getting a game to load please contact Support Staff and let us know.
Good gaming!
