In my opinion as long as there is no nastiness there can be some sort of chat allowed ..that is how you get to know people and make friends.

people want to play the game thats why they come onto that group chat room they pass on tips and explainations of the game..as said before I think chat in the room is ok as long as it dont turn nasty!

I have met some really nice people and again I have seen some really rude people.  I was playing a speed tournament and (I remember the name but won't mention it) came in and shouted LOSE. Why do people have to be so rude. Everyone come to do their best and tries to win. I would like to at this time wish everyone good luck in any tournament or game they play. I usually don't say anything while playing because I'm trying to win and don't watch chat all that much.
I'm hooked on speed right now but still can't seem to win at it.
