Okay, there are a lot of people that are lost in the game.
So I decided to write a walk through.
Hopefully it helps.

1.  Go to the right[thanks for the correction] of the door, click on the brown box.
2.  Click to look inside of the box, then grab the scissors out of the box.
3.  Click away from the box.
4.  Look in the leaves, you'll see a blue hose on the ground.  Get it.
5.  Go to the right twice.
6.  Click in the leaves, in the middle, towards the bottom.
7.  Get the scissors and cut the wires.
8.  Go back to the door.  Click the doorbell thing.
9.  Click the button on the doorbell thing.
10.  Open the door.
11.  Go into the first door on the left, into the kitchen.
12.  Click the in fireplace between the bars and get the matches.
13.  Click on the middle drawer in the kitchen, click on the middle drawer and get the icepick, it's kind of hard to see.
14.  Go left into the dining room, click the clock.
15.  Set the time to 2:35.  Grab the key.
16.  Go out of the dining room and click on the wall where there is a locked door.
17.  Use the icepick to open the door.
18.  Grab the crowbar next to the purple bottle.
19.  Go outside and go the right twice to get the sewer thing.
20.  Use the crowbar to get inside of the sewer.
21.  Go down and click the valve to turn the water off.
22.  Go back inside and go into the kitchen.
23.  Click by the bucket in on the floor, or the black area by it.
24.  Click the door to get into the basement.
25.  The room is dark, so click the dot you see, it'll turn the light on.
25.  Put the hose in the machine like thing you see on the bottom right corner.
26.  Click the lever [dot] on the right of the machine to start draining the water out of the basement.
27.  Grab the key on the bottom left side.
28.  Go upstairs to the second floor.
29.  Click the first door, the door closest to you.
30.  Click the lamp behind the bed.
31.  Grab the book.
32.  Go out of the room.
33.  Use the key that you found in the basement to open the door right at the top of the stairs.
34.  You are now in the library.
35.  Put the book on the bottom shelf [far from you] of the book shelf.
36.  Now you need to click the short brown book on the top shelf and the olivey green book next to the dark green book on the third shelf, it is really close to you.  They should have the same symbol, if they don't you have the wrong books.  [It should be an 'eagle'.]  Oh, and you can only have those two books out for it to work.
37.  That opens the first secret room.
38.  There is a desk/dresser thing right by the opening of the room.
39.  Click it, use the key that you got from the clock to open it.
40.  Grab the gold ring on the top right side.
41.  That's all you need from there.
42.  Go back to the first floor and go to the wall with the picture of the guy.
43.  Click the spot on the wall where it will zoom in for you, not the picture.
44.  Put the ring on the spot on the wall, it will open a new area.
45.  Go down the ladder.
46.  Use the matches that you got in the kitchen to light the lantern next to the ladder.
47.  Pick up the fuse next to the lantern.
48.  Go right two times.
49.  The light turns on.  Put the fuse in the machine.
50.  Drag the dot from the machine all the way down.
51.  Go right one more time.
52.  Use the crow bar on the bars that are on at the bottom.
53.  Go down.
54.  When you are down, go left one time.
55.  Use the matches.
56.  You're done, for now.

but i am confused here Go outside and go the right twice to get the sewer thing

you have to go to the right two times.
on the second time you have to click on the left towards the top where there is a square that looks a little different than the rest of the wall.
that'll take you to the opening for the sewer.

I lost you on step 23...

there is a bucket on the left side in the kitchen and right above it there is some dark area.
you click there to get to the stairs to get to the basement.

I am lost at step 37 I get the right 2 books out the ones with the eagle on the 2 and top shelf but I can't find the secret room?

HI  paparoach73! ON THE FIRST SHELF THERE IS AN EMPTY SPACE U HAVE TO FILL IT WITH THE BOOK U FOUND IN THE OTHER ROOM BEFORE U PULL BOOKS

Well I can't even find the brown box.  The only thing I can find on the left of the door is the box with the wires and I don't see any scissors in there.  Am I stupid or what>

Okay, the brown box is actually to the right.

I must need a better video card or something.  I don't see a brown box.  Most of what I see is just blackness.
