Hi all.
Couple of tips I found worked, there are certain tools that each swing differently.

Bird - swing when the guy is almost upside down.
Spiked Ball - Swing lowest possible
Club - swing as he's upside down

Basically, The lighter the weapon, the slightly higher you go, because for example the bird won't whack the peasant as hard as the club will ETC.

this is gonna sound really weird but everytime i play serfs up i go out of the game window ( dnt close it ) then i come back i have hit over 1000 i think it juss me but it seems to work its not a cheat it just well weird

i was on my last go when i read this,
and i had the club
i got 2534 in that one swing

  I am just so excited I had to write again and tell you thank you for the tips....i used them in tourney play and placed 2nd, which is the highest i have ever placed!!!  Thank you so much again!!
