Make sure that you shoot and hit the enemies. Everytime you miss you will lose 50 points,  this will hurt your score.

Make sure you upgrade when available.
I think that the rocket is the best choice when it is available

when upgrading also go for faster reload and clip size 1st then go for the other stuff
fast reload n clip size is vital in the later lvls to minimize down time

In the first few levels I go for the faster reload times and extra clip sizes. When I get to Level 5 and 6, I buy Self defence things for ship and planet, and faster reload times.

go for the close ones

you want to shoot,relode,and upgrade clip size as erlly on as you can for ship.
you want supporter and mine.(+ to both recovery and df)on planet as fast as you can. then do recerch or ship respond time donw(good choice if you blow up if you die) after that u try to upgrade with everything else.
