Use them when you reach 5 of each.
You can earn more when the scale get full but you have to make match to before it does or otherwise nothing. OR get 5 match you might get a bag which allow you to get 1,2,or all 3 if needed them
Be sure to hold on 2 or 3 TNT just in case you run out of time
I alway try to leave 1 square & get more points until almost time run out then hit the clock or tnt to the last one

Great tip.
I try to save my time until I get 5, but I use them to build up more score; and I wait till the very last second to take out the one remaining square.

Time is all I buy. By doing that I get the other stuff and always have dynamite and luck, but I'm still trying to crack 400,000.  Haven't made it there yet.
Any clues?

That's totally right about the clocks. I'm putting the explanation that I put in my blog here in case it can help you out.:

Avoided using the clover and dynamite until after I had 5 clocks.  You see if you push back all the way to the beginning of the timer when you finish a level you get 5000 bonus points.  That's 1000 per clock.  You can get some clocks in  between, but, you will get more clocks if you have 5 clovers and 5 sticks of dynamite.  So, if you want to extend your game you need to leave 5 clovers and 5 sticks of dynamite there as much as possible.  For every ten constant matches without pausing and that "clunk" sound then you get a clock...if you already have 5 of the other 2. If you keep using your dynamite them you will get a dynamite after the 10 matches and not another clock, which you will really need.  Plus you can use the dynamite or explosions on the board to count as one of the 10  matches in a row, but, if you use that jack hammer, your set of 10 clicks starts over from one.  So, you  use the jack hammer  that right after you get a clock (or if it's your 10th match it counts but, that's hard to gauge) but, before you start your sets of ten matches.  If you use the jackhammers as soon as they show up, then you rarely get that clock, because it keeps resetting your count to one.... and you won't get the clock in time and you'll have to use up your dynamite to end the level before the jewel thieves get there.  That means you have to spend the first sets of 10 matches just getting your dynamite back before you get your little clocks.  You don't have to worry about that in the short tournaments.  But, it gets important if you want to make to through all 20 levels, No  matter how fast or slow you play the game.

A little more detail about the jack-hammers.  Technically the jackhammers shouldn't restart the count to one. In the full game and sometimes online using the jackhammer can be used as one of the 10 fast moves in a row top earn a bonus.  But, if you are really close to the end and have 5 clovers and 5 dynamites and really need that clock, it is wise not to take it for granted that the jack hammer is counting.  A lot of times it just will restart your count over when playing online.  I decided to add that tid bit, because, you probably have experienced it counting when you played.  Perhaps the amount of time it takes to replace the column is counted in the amount of time between the moves.  I can't give a reason, but when you are in a pinch for time, it tends to restart the count and make you lose, because, you can't get that other clock in time.  If this doesn't make sense, see the entry right above this one.
